London family embraces the good life with Charles Church

A family were so impressed with a friend’s new home built by luxury house builder Charles Church they bought one for themselves – without even seeing it.

Moya (43) and Hayden (42) Sutherland swapped their rented house in London for a luxury new four-bedroom home in West Scotland after being bowled over by the friend’s dream home.

Moya says the whole family are thrilled with their new detached home and are now busy embracing rural life in the leafy village of Bishopton in Renfrewshire. The couple have just moved into Charles Church’s Dargavel Village development, along with their two young children.

Moya, who is originally from the nearby town of Paisley, said: “We had been looking to move for a while after outgrowing our house in Ealing and had been searching for a suitable home in Renfrewshire where we could enjoy the space and the countryside.

“I grew up in a nearby town, so I know the area very well. We like being close to my family but prefer the village life, it’s a very friendly place and the local nurseries and primary schools are great.

“Our house was an old terraced, which was in a fantastic location in West London, but it wasn’t practical for a young family. We wanted to get away from the ‘London life’ and raise the children in a more rural setting where they had space to play and enjoy the outdoors. After seeing a friend’s Charles Church home at the Woodilee Village development in the Lenzie area of Glasgow, the Sutherlands decided to put down a deposit for the Drymen without even viewing a show home. “We had looked around at a number of show homes by other builders but just couldn’t agree. As soon as we found out that Charles Church were building here our decision was made. We signed for the house within a couple of hours of the site opening!

“We knew what we wanted. We were looking for a house with plenty of space, a garden and off-street parking; which is very hard to get in London. We viewed our friend’s home, saw the floor plans and decided that the Drymen was best suited to us.”

The Drymen is a spacious four bedroom detached home designed to meet the demands of modern family life. “This was the only house that both I and Hayden agreed on. Having lived in a cramped terraced house for the last five years, we are thrilled to have the luxury of extra space, high ceilings and wide doorways. “The difference in space is incredible and with Hayden being 6 foot 6 inches tall, it is a treat for him to not have to bend down every time he walks through a door. This is the first time he has lived outside of London, and it is safe to say he is definitely appreciating it.”

The couple who run their own Internet consultancy company are fully embracing rural Scotland and enjoying a different pace of life since moving into their new home.

Moya adds: “There has been a great improvement in our lifestyles. We didn’t want to raise the children in the hustle and bustle of a city and they really are enjoying the great outdoors here.” “The big selling point of Dargavel Village for us was that we get to live the village life, yet we are just 20 minutes away from the heart of Glasgow. The village in itself has a great selection of shops and facilities including tennis courts, a rugby club and a dance school.

Charles Church Homes West Scotland’s Sales Director Ingrid Gahagan said: “We’re very pleased that the Sutherlands are enjoying more space for their family at Dargavel Village. It confirms that we’re building the very best in new home design where our purchasers don’t have to compromise on size or location.

“All Charles Church homes are spacious family properties which are extremely practical, meeting the demands of the active family, and also providing the perfect place to wind down after the working day”

Dargavel Village is a development of four and five bedroom luxury homes, priced from £279,995. The development is perfectly placed for commuters with good schooling, local amenities and great transport links. It is within easy reach of Glasgow, Braehead Shopping Centre, Xscape and Glasgow International Airport.
