Housing developer cooks up a hefty sum for local village hall

A busy village hall in Marshfield has discovered the perfect recipe for success thanks to leading Welsh housebuilder Charles Church.

Castleton and District Village Hall will receive a brand new kitchen makeover thanks to a generous donation of £1,000 from the luxury housebuilders, who have recently opened a development on Marshfield Road.

The village hall is a hive of activity for the local community in and around Marshfield and Castleton and during a typical week it is filled with WI and Scouts meetings, playgroups, tap dancing lessons, Judo masterclasses, craft making sessions, rifle club and a variety of fitness classes.

Castleton and District Village Hall, which was built in 1924, has fallen into disrepair and has been undergoing considerable repair work for the last few years – one of the main rooms in need of attention is the out of date kitchen.

Gail Windsor, who is sales executive at the Acorn Walk Charles Church development near to the village hall said: “We’re delighted to be helping the local community by pledging money to help with the refurbishment of the kitchen – a vitally important room which requires a much needed makeover,” Gail said.

“Having just opened our new development in Marshfield, we felt it was important to give something back to the community - I’m sure the new residents of Acorn Walk will want to make full use of the village hall and the benefits it brings.”

Les Davies, Chairman at the Castleton and District Village Hall Committee, said: “Our kitchen has been looking tired for years so we are very grateful to Charles Church for their donation towards a brand new one.

“The hall plays a very important role in the local village - bringing people together for classes and community events, and it always gets especially busy around the festive period.

“The building itself is nearly 90 years old so needs a lot of repair work and attention - there’s still plenty to be done so we urge any local businesses who would like to donate to our refurbishment project to please get in touch.”

Charles Church in Wales build homes which are renowned for quality and style, and the company has a reputation for the highest standards and specifications on every home it builds. The Acorn Walk development is no exception.

The exclusive development, just down the road from the village hall, opened to the public for the very first time last month and demand has been extremely high. The site consists of 19 stunning four bedroom homes.

Charles Church has a range of offers and promotions that can make it easier to purchase a dream property, including the part exchange scheme where Charles Church will arrange at least two valuations, agree a market price and buy an existing property.
