NETGEAR launches world’s fastest Network Attached Storage device

NETGEAR has announced the ReadyNAS 716, the world’s fastest desktop network attached storage (NAS) device. With a maximum capacity of 24TB (up to 84TB with expansion chassis), the six-bay ReadyNAS 716 enables easy storage and extreme throughput for businesses and campus environments supporting up to 500 concurrent users. Providing up to 10GE throughput, ReadyNAS 716 is also the only NAS on the market today capable of simultaneously streaming multiple large uncompressed Blu-ray® files.

Earlier this spring, NETGEAR introduced a new portfolio of ReadyNAS devices, running on the revolutionary ReadyNAS operating system (OS) that delivers high value, high performance storage with enterprise-class features. The custom-built ReadyNAS OS not only protects stored data with X-RAID2® automatic expansion, but also features continuous data protection through unlimited snapshots, easy disaster recovery with cloud-managed replication and native threat protection with real-time anti-virus. Each NAS device was created with ease-of-use in mind, so business users can confidently centralise, share and back up all the data on their network.

Every member of the award-winning ReadyNAS product family combines industry-first innovations with unmatched ease-of-use. With the launch of ReadyNAS 716, NETGEAR once again takes features and capabilities previously available only from expensive, large-enterprise vendors and dramatically simplifies deployment and manageability to provide businesses with affordable, dynamic and reliable storage. With a 10GE line rate on the two built-in 10GBASE-T ports, this newest member of the NAS portfolio also showcases the latest in performance capability related to simultaneous HD video streams.

ReadyNAS 716 offers the highest performance in the desktop category with 16GB ECC memory — more than any desktop NAS on the market — and features cutting-edge ReadyCLOUD™ technology for cloud-based set-up, provisioning and full file management from any browser. What’s more, the world’s fastest NAS supports 10GE infrastructures, making it ideal for streaming multiple HD videos concurrently to different media clients – whether it’s 85 streams for a college seminar, 25 streams to a kindergarten class, or three uncompressed Blu-ray files.

Like other members of the ReadyNAS family, ReadyNAS 716 has a simple-to-use interface. It supports SATA (up to 4TB) and SSD drives and includes three eSATA expansion ports for scaling capacity as the storage needs of a business grows (up to 84TB).
