Conference gets global accolade for its impact

A conference which brought inspirational speakers to the North East from across the UK has won a prestigious global award.

The event, part of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum’s Fortune Favours the Brave series of activities and supported by Tees Valley Unlimited, the Local Enterprise Partnership, has received the award from the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) organisation.

The conference, held at Rockliffe Hall, near Darlington, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, has won a High Impact Award from the GEW campaign. The award recognises events which provide role models, offer practical support, develop enterprise capabilities and reference the wider GEW activity.

A full house of around 130 entrepreneurs attended the conference, which was addressed by, among others, digital media entrepreneur Chris van der Kuyl, chairman of Tayforth Consulting and the Scottish Entrepreneurial Exchange, Kevin Dorren, founder of Diet Chef, Liam Halligan, chief economist at Prosperity Capital Management and economics columnist at The Sunday Telegraph.

Nicola Short, Chief Executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “The conference was one of the biggest and best activities we have undertaken in the ten years of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum. A full house heard from some truly inspirational speakers and the feedback we have had from attendees is tremendous. This High Impact Award reflects not only the powerful messages delivered on the day, but also the way the event made headlines across the regional and national media.”

Stephen Catchpole, Managing Director of Tees Valley Unlimited, the Local Enterprise Partnership for Tees Valley, said: “Entrepreneurship is a critical part of the jigsaw that will help to drive prosperity in Tees Valley, which is why TVU was proud to be a sponsor of this successful event.”
