Darlington-based post box business enjoys global success

An entrepreneurial father and son are winning business from as far afield as Russia, New Zealand and Australia after launching an innovative new post box service.

Darlington-based POBoxes.com is the brainchild of Anthony Redpath and his son Alex and has already built up a 250-strong global client base in the few weeks since its launch.

The company offers a range of postal and call handling services to individuals and businesses that need to maintain a permanent address other than their home address.

For professionals working remotely who may not want to use their home as their business address, PO Boxes provides mail scanning and forwarding services as well as a phone answering service and a virtual office PO box service.

It is also suited to people who may spend much of their working week on the road or overseas, and need a permanent address.

It has proved particularly popular among offshore industry workers as well as businesses wishing to take advantage of the Darlington company’s additional address in the prestigious Wimbledon district of London.

The company currently has a handful of staff but is aiming to create new jobs as the take up of its services continues to grow.

Anthony Redpath said: “During my time in business I’ve had many clients and friends who have been working or semi-retired overseas and needed to maintain a postal presence in the UK. So we spotted a gap in the market.

“Ideally, we would like to open offices in other English speaking countries to be able to offer clients a business presence in their countries. We will most likely look at a franchising model to drive these plans forward.”

Alex Redpath added: “Initially this was an unknown market for us but we have carried out extensive market research and development which has helped to evolve the service we offer today. We are extremely excited about our offering and delighted to be at a stage where we are now sharing it with the wider market.”

Anthony Redpath is an accountant by trade who sold his accountancy practice – with three offices and 20+ staff – some time ago to concentrate on SME mergers, acquisitions and business transfers, which he handles through his other business, a2zBusinessBrokers.com.

Alex has a background in technical support and training in the communications industry and recently moved into the business development and entrepreneurial field on the back of some training at DigitalCity, in Teesside.

POBoxes.com offers confidential mail and call handling services, specialising in mail forwarding, mail scanning, complete virtual office services and fully personalised phone answering services.
