Former X Factor starJonjo Kerr launches own business

A former X Factor finalist from Chorley has now achieved his next dream with the start of his own entertainment and live music business.

30-year-old Jonjo Kerr, who was serving with the 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment when he was on X Factor in 2011, has used his inside knowledge of the biggest music show on TV to set up a one-stop-shop for clients who need anything from a simple PA to a live band and full sound system.

His business was launched with an all-important loan from Transmit Start-Ups, which helped him to buy equipment, insurance and put marketing in place.

He said: “I have been really lucky to have learnt about the music business from industry experts and now want to apply that knowledge to my own company.

“My aim is to be able to help everyone, no matter how small an event, to have a fantastic time by supplying great music and all of the technical gear they might need, at the price they can afford. Transmit Start Ups loan has given the exact kick start I needed.”

Robert Webb, director, Transmit Start-Ups said: “Jonjo has achieved great success already and has the drive and determination to make his business a similar story.

“We are delighted to have been able to help him get the start he deserves. There is a definite gap in the market for this type of service, so the timing of his launch is perfect.”

As well as his X Factor success Jonjo sang on the title track of the Military Wives second album In My Dreams and performed with them at the Royal Albert Hall’s Festival of Remembrance, in front of HM Queen Elizabeth. He returned to the army in Afghanistan after he recorded the track and heard it has reached number one while on active duty on the front line.

He has now recorded his first self-penned album which will be released early in 2014.

Jonjo’s business can supply music services all over the country as well as his home area of the North West. Even though it is a new venture he has already been contracted to both perform and provide stage equipment at a range of venues.

Married to Melissa, he has two sons, Bradley, 8 and two year old Dominic. Further information on his business is available on www.jonjokerr.com.

Transmit Start-Ups is able to offer loans to budding entrepreneurs of all ages up to 31 December 2013 and 18 – 30 year old from this date onwards. Further information is available on www.transmitstartups.co.uk.
