Christmas Card competition heralded by Hartlepool businesses
Enterprising businesses have brought festive cheer to schoolchildren by judging their Christmas Card competition.
Pupils at Brougham Primary School in Hartlepool designed the colourful cards as part of a contest set up by the town’s Enterprise Centre.
More than 50 cards were designed by the children with six of the best rewarded with prizes donated by Hartlepool firms including the town’s Business of the Year J & B Recycling, Clockworks, Reactive Design and Publicity Seekers.
Janet Day, of Hartlepool Enterprise Centre, said: “We have always had close links with Brougham Primary School because it is just over the road from the Enterprise Centre. Every year we have the children in to sing carols during our Christmas Fayre and we wanted to do something as a thank-you for them.
“The Christmas Card competition has really caught their imagination and there have been some wonderful designs.”
The winning pupils received an early Christmas gift when they were awarded with prizes at a school assembly this week. The winners in Key Stage One were Natalia Gwara, Joseph Stoddart and Casey-Jo Watson, while Key Stage Two winners were Ellie Readman, Leonie Anderson and Ellie Aisbitt. All of those who took part also received a gift as a thank-you for their efforts.
Vikki Jackson-Smith, Managing Director of J & B Recycling, added: “It’s always fun to spread some festive cheer at this time of the year. The children designed some fantastic cards and I’m sure they enjoyed coming up with their designs – we certainly enjoyed judging them.
“It’s good to keep close links between the town’s schools and local businesses because these are our employees, employers and entrepreneurs of the future.”
