World Duty Free hits the 225k customer mark at Leeds Bradford

World Duty Free, who operate the tax free stores at LBIA, have served nearly a quarter of a million customers this year in Yorkshire’s biggest airport.

Not only this, but the Leeds Bradford branch have received recognition from the group in their annual awards, winning Terminal and Manager of the Year 2013.

This has further raised the profile of the newly renovated Leeds Bradford Airport, which has spent millions on reconstructions at the site.

Each year, the travel retailer hosts its own Awards event, to recognise outstanding achievements at both an individual and store level, across its UK operations.

To select the Award winners, a WDFG Steering Group Committee reviews all nominations, judging them on various criteria including the highest overall commercial return, outstanding front of store activity, joint activity with Airport Partners, Destination Targeting initiatives and greatest KPI achievements.

The Manager award went to World Duty Free store manager Steve Jones, in recognition of his passion, commitment and innovative approach. Steve consistently delivered great sales results and demonstrated a real drive to improve staff engagement, as well as fostering great relationships with the Leeds Bradford team.

Speaking about the Awards Mark Sowerby, Head of Retail Operations at WDFG said, “The dedication and passion demonstrated by all the award entrants this year was sensational and events like this give us an important opportunity to recognise great achievements and celebrate success.

Particular congratulations go to the team at LBA and store manager Steve Jones – the team’s drive, innovation and achievements are a great example for us all and their awards are extremely well deserved“.
