Assura Group completes 200th project

North West healthcare property developer and investor Assura Group has celebrated the completion of its new £1.6million medical centre in Harlech, North Wales.

The 7,100 sq ft primary care centre, delivered in partnership with Amcen Cyfyngedig, saw the relocation of Ardudwy Health Centre from its former site at Ffordd y Traeth. The health centre is now combined with the Local Health Board, which has taken 546 sq ft in the new premises.

The development at Harlech is the latest in a series of Welsh projects for Assura Group, based in Warrington, who celebrated the completion of Y Felinheli Primary Care Centre earlier this year and commenced building work on a new health centre in Blaenavon.

The building is also one of the developer’s most sustainable properties to date. Sustainability measures include the incorporation of an insulated timber frame and biomass boiler that uses wood pellets to fuel the building. The adaptations will ensure the building is efficient and cost effective, as will the installation of PV arrays to the roof, all of which will reduce the amount of energy required to run the building and give the centre a Zero Carbon status.

Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “We’re very excited about having surpassed the 200 milestone with the completion of Harlech Medical Centre, our first building to achieve a Zero Carbon rating. Assura Group is proud of each and every property that we have completed across the UK, and our latest is no exception. The finished project will now provide a range of excellent primary care services to Harlech and the surrounding area, improving the availability of advanced facilities.

“It has been great working with Amcen Cyfyngedig once again, and we’re really pleased with what everyone involved with this development has accomplished.”

Judith Clarke, lead GP for Ardudwy and Bronmeirion Surgery, said: “It’s been wonderful seeing the progression of the surgery from its original plans to the finished result. We’re very happy to see the project completed, and are thankful for the support that we have received throughout the process from both the local community and those working on the project.”

The architect on the scheme is WM Design & Architecture Ltd, with the contractor Williams Homes Bala Ltd.
