New MD at JC&C

A rapidly expanding North East construction company has appointed a new Managing Director.

James Riley, 30, from Denton Burn in Newcastle has worked at Joyce Construction and Civils Ltd (JC&C) for two and a half years and steps up to the position with the company growing and taking on new and exciting work. And he is no€™t the only one settling into a new role with the business, which has taken on nineteen new employees in the last four months.

The Northumberland firm made a much needed move to a new self built headquarters at the former Dilston Sawmill site last year and has seen staffing levels rise from 30 at the start of 2012 to around 70 today.

Said James: “€œOver the past couple of years we have restructured our business adding new skills and services, as well as building and moving into a new headquarters. This has enabled us to take on challenges in new areas and win a significant amount of work, much of it with new clients.

“€œTo meet the increasing demand on the team, our new employees have filled positions in a variety of roles - including plant operation, hard landscaping, engineering, procurement and contract management€“ and we are delighted to welcome them to a dynamic and expanding organisation. There are a number of new contracts upon which we hope to complete in the coming few weeks so this is a really exciting time for JC&C.”

Originally a drainage business, JC&C has added civil engineering skills to its portfolio and this has helped win large projects with Akzo Nobel in Ashington, on the Doxford link road, at Ryhope Hospital and the RVI redevelopment in Newcastle. All of this contributed to the company more than doubling its turnover in the last financial year to ££7.5m from ££2.9 million the year before.
