Norwegian oil and gas opportunities are abundant for North East suppliers, say industry experts
A trade mission of North East oil and gas businesses will visit Stavanger in Norway to explore opportunities created by the discovery of the giant Johan Sverdrup field in 2011.
NOF Energy, the oil and gas business development organisation, are looking for North East businesses in the sector to join the trip in search of opportunities in the Norwegian offshore industry.
The Johan Sverdrup field has the potential to be at least the third largest and the fact that it was discovered in the mature part of the North Sea illustrates the potential for undiscovered reserves elsewhere on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
Fifty three companies currently have licences for the NCS. Exploration activity remains high, with 42 exploration wells drilled in 2012 and there were full order books for seismic studies this summer.
Paul Livingstone, business development manager at NOF Energy, said: “The relationship between the UK and Norwegian offshore oil & gas industries has proven to be mutually beneficial for many years.
“However, following an increase in activity, as a result of the discovery of new oil and gas reserves, the opportunities for technology-led British suppliers to secure a proportion of the Norwegian market are growing.
“NOF Energy has excellent links with the Norwegian market and this visit will help both experienced and first-time exporters gain access to key operators and contractors, which will assist with their international business ambitions.”
The trip will take place between February 3-4. Those interested in attending should contact Jennifer Smith, events coordinator at NOF Energy on jsmith@nofenergy.co.uk or +44 (0) 191 3846464.
