Internet service provider eyes growth following impressive results

Manchester Science Park-based internet service provider Metronet (UK) is eyeing further expansion as revenues increased by almost a third.

For the financial year ended March 31 2013, the business increased revenue by almost a third from £5.9 million to £7.8 million.

EBITDA at the company grew by 40% to £2.9 million over the same period.

Established in 2003, Metronet (UK) is a fast-growing hybrid wireless and fibre internet service provider that counts Laing O’Rourke, Umbro and Greater Manchester Police Authority among its clients.

The company provides data infrastructure to over 1000 UK customers, including 25%t of Manchester’s top 500 firms. Services include high speed data connectivity, managed networking services and managed security.

In June 2012 LDC made an £11 million majority stake investment to back the management buyout of the business.

The transaction has helped to accelerate growth in the capability and reach of Metronet (UK)’s hybrid network, expand its sales and marketing function, and enable further investment in its infrastructure.
