North East manufacturing experts partner with Newcastle College
Newcastle College have partnered with North East manufacturers Tool & Die Kaizen to launch an innovative new training course for the manufacturing sector.
The course will focus on the core principles of ‘lean’ manufacturing and will be based out of the College’s Sandyford Campus.
In early 2014 the partners hope to launch a degree level programme.
Former Nissan production senior David Beamsley founded Tool & Die Kaizen along with operations troubleshooter Graham Turnbull. The firm specialise in Japanese workshop management techniques.
Newcastle College business development manager, Mark Bolton, said: “The aim of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to become a more effective manager of the resources they are responsible for and give them the practical tools to deliver increased levels of performance and financial success throughout their organisation.”
“Decision makers within the manufacturing and engineering industries will understand that gains in productivity and efficiency are about an approach to managing and training their workforce and not about spending large sums of money on new plant.”
“The course offers the opportunity to improve work streams with a lean philosophy, asking key questions of highly experienced mentors in confidence. They will leave with the understanding, skills and tools to deliver greater customer satisfaction, an effective and motivated workforce, and financial efficiency in their operation.”
Tool & Die Kaizen director, David Beamsley, added: “The pairing of practical Lean training for managers and supervisors with the proper expert factory diagnostics and process improvement of the supporting consultancy gives clients a devastatingly effective combination of change that will dramatically increase their profitability.
“The experts within our team, as well as the newly trained managers and supervisors, will be able to identify and implement process improvements that provide a saving greater than the cost of our programme, making it a no-brainer.”
“We feel very strongly that our unique partnership with Newcastle College can help a wide cross section of industries and organisations to improve their efficiency and profitability.”
