Yorkshire furniture retailer braces for Boxing Day
With thousands of customers looking to bag a bargain on Boxing Day, Barker and Stonehouse’s Yorkshire stores are bracing for the expected rush by bringing in additional manpower.
With three stores in the region – Knaresborough, Leeds and Hull – the furniture retailer has ensured that it’s all hands on deck with over 40 members of staff being prepped for the start of the sale, double the number required for a normal trading day.
Barker and Stonehouse managing director James Barker said the company is used to people starting to queue outside from the early hours to make sure they get the best items.
James said: “There is no other time that the products in our showrooms are discounted as heavily as they are during our Boxing Day sale - some pieces of furniture are reduced by more than 80%.
“In 2012 we had queues around the block and we anticipate the same this year.”
Savings at the Leeds store include the Ainsley 2 seater sofa for just £399, a saving of £996, while at the Hull showroom the Rhode Island extending table with six chairs is reduced to £595 from £1445.
At the Knaresborough store customers can purchase a Valvida Coffee Table for only £99, down from £659, and an Archie Sofa and matching chair in loose blue covers for just £499, originally £1684.
