Accountancy trainees see double promotion
Two audit specialists at a North East accountancy firm have been promoted to assistant managers.
Louise McCann and Lizzie Thomson, who both joined chartered accountants and business advisers Clive Owen & Co LLP as trainees, have been rewarded with new roles.
Louise, who works at the Darlington office, joined the firm in 2006 and qualified as a chartered accountant three years later. She is part of the audit team, supporting manager Kathryn Bradley with a number of charities, academies and owner managed entities.
Lizzie is based at the Durham office and has been with Clive Owen for six years. She is qualified as a chartered accountant and chartered tax accountant. She is a member of both the tax and audit and accounts team.
Simon Hook, a partner with Clive Owen, said the firm was always keen to recognise those who demonstrate a willingness to get involved in moving the business forward.
“We’re delighted to recognise the work and commitment that Louise and Lizzie have demonstrated. They are both valuable members of the team and becoming more involved in key aspects of our business. In particular, it’s always encouraging to see people in the team progress especially when they joined as a trainee”.
Louise said: “I’m delighted with this promotion and I enjoy being part of the team at Clive Owen. The firm is keen to develop and grow, which gives me more opportunities to develop my career.
“Being able to gain specialist knowledge has also allowed me to get more involved with clients and I’m excited about the future.”
Lizzie said: “As a trainee I knew the firm had the opportunities to help me develop a range of skills and I’m so pleased to have been rewarded with this promotion.”
