Sun cream business opens warehouse after ten year wait

Manchester-based manufacturers of suncreams, Linco Care Ltd, are opening a new warehouse, ten years after a major fire engulfed their Carrington site.

The family-run firm which makes popular high street brands such as Calypso sun care lost over £1.5 million worth of stock in the 2003 fire.

Now an investment of nearly £1 million has resulted in a 25,000 sq ft warehouse that stands on the original production site, employing 50 people.

The firm serves markets as far afield as South America, Australia and the Far East.

Ken Beck, senior accounts manager at Linco Care, commented: “Thanks to the hard work of the owners and staff, Linco Care is going from strength to strength. Our turnover has increased by 50% from 2003, our exports to over 50 countries worldwide now account for £2m of turnover, we have several well-known brands including Calypso and Re-Gen Oil that are listed in most of the major British retailers, and we’ve been able to employ another 34 people from the local area.

“The new warehouse is a symbol of Linco Care’s success and growth over the last ten years and with our brands, people and new warehouse now in place, we’re looking forward to a bumper next ten years from our base in Carrington.”

The warehouse, which has a storage capacity of 2,800 pallets, is also installed with sustainable energy solutions including 400 Solar photovoltaic panels that will generate 86,000 kWh electricity per year.

The new building project was supported by guidance from MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service) who work with thousands of manufacturing companies in England to share knowledge, improve productivity and achieve success.
