Science marketers expand as Tees Valley advanced industries thirsty for communications

A North East marketing agency specialising in the commercialisation of science and advanced technologies say growing demand has lead to their expansion in the region.

Scitec Marketing & PR have moved into the Wilton Centre at Redcar to accommodate growth and place themselves at the centre of a growing regional hub for advanced technologies.

The four-year-old firm now plans to take on new staff as it says demand for communications support in the region is taking off.

Founder and senior consultant, Mike Cratchley, told Bdaily: “There is so much going on in the Wilton area that we wanted to be there - particularly in our areas of specialism; science, processing, waste management and renewable energies.

“Our move brings us right to the heart of these types of industries. We see lots of opportunities here in the Tees Valley as there is a lot going on but so much of it is not talked about.”

Scitec’s offering is based upon helping scientists and engineers to communicate their products and services effectively to the general public.

Mike’s background as a former chemical engineer allows him to draw on technical experience and has lead him to advise the likes of Centrica on its communication of its carbon capture programme.

The firm have now moved from their Stockton base to the Wilton Centre which houses organisations such as the Centre for Process Innovation and EDF Energy Renewables.

He added: “We’re now on a new business drive in the North East and we’re in talks with a few potential clients.

“The plan is to take on two new members of staff over the next six months as we progress.”
