Smart appointment for SONE

A leading UK-based international crime fighting company has appointed an established north east manufacturer to produce a container and applicator system for its security marking products.

Telford-based SmartWater Technology Ltd (SmartWater), best known for its diverse range of forensic products which provide traceability to items of value and link criminals with individual crime scenes, has added SONE Products Ltd (SONE) to its portfolio of suppliers.

SONE, based in Co. Durham, is the UK’s only high volume supplier to specialise in both the design and manufacture of a range of plastic containers incorporating innovative application and dispensing systems.

For this latest business win SONE will manufacture a pack using both injection and blow moulding processes. The pack includes an assembly with an applicator that is used to apply a specialist security marking system.

SONE was chosen for a number of reasons, but particularly its ability to substantially reduce the supply pipeline and the potential for a stock holding option. An initial quantity of 50K has already been supplied, with the potential for further orders from SmartWater in 2014.

Speaking about this latest order, SONE’s business development manager, Tony Burnell said:

SmartWater Chief Executive, Phil Cleary, added:
