North East site manager Mark bids to become best in UK

SITE manager Mark Summersgill will represent the North East in a competition to find the best builders in the UK next week.

This is the second year running that Mark, who works for David Wilson Homes, has won through to the national finals of the Pride in the Job awards for quality workmanship.

Mark, of Middlesbrough, is up against the champions from eight other regions in the Large Builder category of the awards, which are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry.

Mark, 51, said: “This is all down to the great team working with me.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, you need the right people working together to build a top quality new home. I strive to run an efficient build that is quality controlled at every point.”

He has worked in the industry since leaving school at 16 and is currently in charge at David Wilson’s Grey Towers Village development at Nunthorpe, where he heads a 30-strong construction team.

Mike Roberts, Managing Director at David Wilson North East said: “Mark thoroughly deserves this for the skills he brings to the job every day and his dedication to building the very best homes. We wish him the best of luck in the national finals.”

Pride in the Job awards are organised by the National House Building Council, which judged more than 13,000 site managers across the UK on all aspects of their work, including technical skill, quality workmanship and customer service.

The UK Supreme Award winners will be announced at a gala event in London next Friday (17 January).
