Injured serviceman triathlon team join forces with sportswear specialists
Lancashire sportswear specialists VO2 Sportswear have committed to a sponsorship deal with Team True Spirit, a recovering injured servicemen triathlon team.
The Bolton-based sportswear company will be providing race kit for the existing team and any new members who join Team True Spirit, whilst also donating money from every sale to the team and their charities.
The sponsorship deal runs throughout 2014 and will see the team take on some gruelling challenges.
Team True Spirit have completed some of the toughest races in the country, including the Ironman event held in Bolton on more than one occasion. Whilst undertaking these exhausting challenges the team have raised over £60,000 for the military charities that support them and their families.
The aims of Team True Spirit are to raise awareness of the battles that injured serviceman face and to generate financial support for a number of forces charities, such as; Royal Marines Association, BLESMA, The Parachute Regiment Charity, The Forces Childrens Trust and more.
The team have been affected in different ways whilst serving their country. Some of them have lost limbs, some have other injuries and all of them have had their lives changed forever. The new Team True Spirit triathlon suit is designed with VO2 expertise and quality.
The company specialise in triathlon apparel and the suit combines comfort with styling allowing for ultimate performance for serious athletes. The suit is available from the VO2 Sportswear website and the company are donating 10% of every purchase to the team and to forces charities.
Vo2 Sportswear Managing Director Matt Tomkin said: “We are delighted to support such a fantastic triathlon team, who take on some really difficult challenges for a great cause. Not only that, they are injured servicemen themselves, so they are truly inspirational. It is an honour to have the team wearing VO2 Sportswear products and we are proud to be affiliated with Team True Spirit.”
VO2 have most recently been known for designing the Children In Need cycling jerseys for BBC The One Shows rickshaw challenge and the full kit for Team Pie, a Lancashire-based running, cycling and triathlon club.
