Colour on the brain for Statex
Newcastle-based Statex Colour Print is celebrating the completion of a coveted colour quality certification by commissioning renowned North East photographer Mark Westerby to create 50 limited edition prints of a human brain.
The print firm is one of only a handful of companies country-wide that has achieved ISO 12647-2, a colour match certification that is only awarded to those able to produce the most complex and technologically advanced print jobs.
The accreditation, which comes following a 12 month assessment into the company’s print process, will allow Statex to expand into new markets and assist on bespoke projects that rely on perfect colour reproduction, for example paint companies that produce colour charts.
To celebrate, the firm has created a limited edition set of ‘Thinking in Colour’ prints, in conjunction with Mark Westerby, who was named in Lurzers’ Top 200 Advertising Photographers in the World.
The high quality finish of the prints, which show a human brain in a multitude of colours, is achieved by using the industry’s latest print techniques, technology and enhancements, allowing Statex to demonstrate the complex print techniques that it is able to achieve following the accreditation. All are new technologies that are not readily available in the region.
Steve Miller, Production Director at Statex said: “Winning this accreditation is a real coup for the business and our staff and the 12 months of hard work has definitely paid off. This particular accreditation is extremely hard to achieve and so far only a minority of companies nationally have passed the certification process.
“At a time where print is constantly evolving we are keen to remain at the forefront of the industry, which is why specialised accreditations are so vital to us as a business.
“The accreditation also certifies that we are able to provide complex print techniques to companies who require bespoke projects, as we are able to match print perfectly across various substrates other than just paper.”
Statex works with a range of global brands, SMEs and public bodies in the North East and nationally and Mr Miller believes that the accreditation will play a big part when tendering for new projects.
He continued: “The accreditation demonstrates that we have the right people, technology and processes to meet any print job and we feel this will really set us apart from our competitors, giving greater confidence that we can produce the best quality possible, no matter what the job is. We expect this to play a big factor during the tender process, in addition to enhancing the service provided to current and prospective customers.”
