JCT600 completes £6.2 million investment in York Audi

The new sustainable Audi showroom in York has been opened by JCT600 at a total cost of £6.2 million.

The redevelopment comprises the 17 car showroom and a nearby aftersales building, with a 20 bay workshop, large valeting department and compound facility.

JCT600’s £2.5m showroom redevelopment, which was carried out by Sheffield-based BDB Design Build Limited, took nine months to complete with the buildings designed to be highly energy efficient.

Installed by Smart Buildings of Leeds, the showroom’s building management control system enables the energy usage of the building to be closely monitored and controlled.

The roof is also almost entirely covered in solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and able to generate its own electricity and sell any surplus back to the national grid.

Energy and water consumption is monitored at the meters and daily reports are provided to check on overuse or wastage. The building, which is located on Centurion Park, Clifton Way, has attained a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating and, unusually for motor trade outlets, an energy performance certificate (EPC) A rating.

In addition, the building features the first two storey used car deck to be built in Yorkshire, capable of displaying 60 vehicles, and providing a convenient weather proof drop off and parking area for customers below.

Mark Taylor, group property director at JCT600, said: “This fantastic new facility is already proving a huge hit with customers. Not only is it far more spacious, but it incorporates Audi’s latest innovative ‘Terminal Architecture’ design featuring striking exterior perforated aluminum panels, which give a real wow factor.

“As well as its high tech look, the building is the most eco friendly ‘green’ project we have ever undertaken. We are delighted that it has not only achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, but also an energy performance certificate grade A.”

The project was designed by SDA Architects of Leeds and project managed by MNB Project Solutions Ltd of Saltaire, Bradford.
