Merseyside Innovation Awards are back on the hunt for the region’s most ingenious businesses

This week marks the full launch of the Merseyside Innovation Awards for 2014 as the search for the most ingenious businesses and products in the region begins once more. This is the 19th year of the MIA and entries for the January award are already being judged after online entries opened a few weeks ago. “With this being the Merseyside Innovation Awards it seemed only fitting that we launch in cyberspace first,” said awards founder Brian McCann. “Those who were sharp to it got their entries in early and already we have seen some astonishing submissions.” There are still plenty of opportunities to submit your entry for this year’s awards however. MIA is committed to seeking out and recognising the pioneers of commercial innovation in the region. The judging panel, made up of sponsors from some of the leading firms in Merseyside, will select a monthly winner from entries received that month. They will then be assessed and refined to a shortlist of three who will present their submissions in the final. The winning company can look forward to an ultimate prize of £10,000 in cash while the runners-up can win specialist business support worth up to £2,000. For McCann, partner and director of MC Vanguard Corporate Finance, discovering unseen or unknown projects and highlighting them to the wider public is important as it demonstrates the breadth of skills, expertise and creativity there is on Merseyside. “We are looking forward to seeing some very exciting applications this year,” he said. “With competition expected to be fierce I would encourage entrepreneurs to enter early. We want to leave no stone unturned in our quest to spotlight the greatest innovations in the region.” To find out if you or your firm is eligible to enter the awards, or to submit an entry, visit www.merseysideinnovationawards.co.uk, contact Jean Hughes at jean.hughes@mcvanguard.co.uk or call 0151 255 2300.
