Bristol business people learn to juggle their lives
As the daily pressures of juggling the demands of work and life constantly seem to increase, business people in Bristol met on Wednesday night to hear from executive coach and business Psychologist, Pam Madden, hear how they can try and achieve a better balance.
At the event, organised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and held at the Aztec Hotel and Spa, attendees heard that they are not alone facing the challenges of trying to cope with the demands of their personal lives and their work schedules and were given some help in trying to deal with it.
Eddie Nicolas, ACMA, CGMA, CIMA Bristol Group Chairman, who attended the event said “In our hectic society the pressure to do well in our careers and, equally, make the most of our spare time and give the most to our families, is increasing more and more. But, you don’t need to be superman or superwoman to achieve this. Those of us who went to this event last night now certainly have some ideas to put into practice and get more of this balance in 2014.”
The evening covered how to do a work/life audit to look at where you are now and where you want to be, as well as looking at whether a work/life balance is achievable and daily changes that can be made to help achieve it, such as how to set clear boundaries, use technology better, such as checking emails at set points in the day, and improve the focus on each task.
Pam Madden is, owner and managing director of West of England Coaching and Counselling which specialises in providing bespoke executive coaching and counselling services to busy professionals in the West Country.
