Olympic hockey star to address Manchester business workshop

An Olympian will be amongst a panel of experts offering advice to small businesses at a workshop in Manchester.

Wealth management expert and former hockey player Martyn Grimley, who won gold with the British Olympic squad at the 1988 summer games in Seoul, is teaming up with SME support specialist ClearSky Business for the free event.

Aimed at start-ups and small businesses, the breakfast workshop – called ‘The essential toolkit for growing your business’ – takes place on Thursday, 27th February at the Midland Hotel on Peter Street.

Attendees will receive guidance on a wide range of issues spanning employment law, HR, accountancy, tax and payroll.

Topics to be covered include:

Tax planning for the financial year ahead

Minimising your tax bill through small business tax reliefs

How to manage employee payroll

Financial planning and wealth management

How to minimise the risk of an employment tribunal

There will also be the opportunity to take part in an interactive question-and-answer session with the panel of experts, which will also include ClearSky’s head of legal, Juliet Byrne, and accounting director Daniel Mepham.

“Manchester has an outstanding reputation for attracting and nurturing small businesses, making it the ideal venue for this event,” said Mr Mepham.
