Trainee sales advisor reaps reward for her hard work

A trainee sales advisor with a leading housebuilder is putting everything she has learned to good use after being put in charge of her own development.

Jessica Hanley, 21, only joined Persimmon Homes Teesside in May and has already so impressed her bosses that she now runs her own site at Bowburn.

She was one of three trainee sales advisors taken on by the housebuilder earlier this year and is due to qualify in January.

Her career with the housebuilder is certainly different from her original ambitions after she studied fashion design.

Jessica left school after taking her AS levels to start a fashion design course, gaining a place at Southampton University.

She said: “I was going to do fashion and make-up for film, photography and music videos but I left university after just four months because I was really homesick.

“When I applied I wanted to be independent but I really missed home and decided to come back.”

She worked on a make-up counter and as an account manager for a leading US make-up brand but decided to branch out when an old school friend told her all about Persimmon Homes.

“My friend, Katie Heslop, already works for Persimmon as a sales administrator and absolutely loves it. I decided to apply and was thrilled when I was given the job.

“I have trained with different sales advisors and the job is much more involved than I first imagined. It is especially exciting now that I have been given my own site.

“I love working here as I get to meet new people every day. It is exciting helping people buy their homes and I get a real buzz out of it.

“Out of the three trainees taken on, I did take longer to learn the role but I took my time and because of that I do feel more confident and know exactly what I am doing.”

Christine Cooper, sales and marketing director with Persimmon Homes Teesside, said: “Jessica has come on leaps and bounds and is doing a superb job at Bowburn.

“It really shows the success of our trainee scheme as all three of them are now managing their own sites and I am looking to take on another trainee in the near future.”

Jessica is based at The Grange, in Durham Road, Bowburn, which consists of three and four-bedroom properties.

Trainee advisor Ashley Gomer is based at The Hawthorns, in Merlin Way, Hartlepool, while Laura Forbes is at based at Poole Gardens, in Nunthorpe, a new development of just 16 executive homes by Persimmon’s sister brand Charles Church.
