Whitley Bay's Mactech shortlisted for North East award

Mactech Engineering and Inspection has been shortlisted in the Export category in the 2014 Tyneside and Northumberland round of the North East Business Awards.

The Hilton Hotel, NewcastleGateshead is the setting for the awards on March 20.

Winners from each sub-regional ceremony will then be entered into the grand regional final taking place at Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield on May 1.

The Export category encourages and recognises companies that have generated substantial and sustained increases in export activity.

Mactech Inspection Ltd was founded in 1986 by Kevin McFarlane, and whilst it remains a family run business, they currently work across five continents, globally supplying teams of core technicians and supervisors, inspectors and managers.

The infrastructure in place means they can quickly deploy staff worldwide, currently employing over 100 UK workers overseas. The in-house logistics and operations team can organise, travel, accommodation, visas and any other legislative and domestic requirements needed for international staffing of projects.

This gives the clients the necessary assurances that all tax legalities will be met for each in country worker.

Over the past five years, Mactech has grown substantially, not only in employee numbers, but turnover too, as they retained their company policy of employing British workers for domestic and overseas projects.

Tracey Eckert, marketing manager said: “We are honoured to be shortlisted in the Export category. As a company Mactech are bucking the trend in terms of growth both at home in the UK and overseas and will expand again overseas this year as we cement our place as a truly global leader in our field.

“We have a fantastic team, not only in our offices, but also in the manpower we provide, and our continuing success in no small part lies with them.”
