Hitachi revenues boosted by rail division
Hitachi reports its Social Infrastructure and Industrial Systems business has seen revenues increase 6% thanks to the performance of its rail business and sales of elevators and escalators.
The Japanese multinational say revenue in its Social Infrastructure and Industrial Systems segment was 313.6 billion yen (roughly £1.8 billion) in the third quarter of 2013.
Hitachi Rail Europe are building an £82 million factory in Newton Aycliffe that is expected to create 700 jobs.
The firm’s rail business operates divisions in Canada, South America, Russia, the Middle East, South Africa and Asia.
