Youth work steps into the limelight at regional awards

Professionals from the youth work sector will take centre stage this spring, thanks to a regional awards ceremony.

The North East Youth Work Awards celebrate and acknowledge the commitment and support that youth workers, projects and services offer in the North East.

The Awards, now in their third year, are hosted by the Regional Youth Work Unit – North East (RYWU-NE), a charity based in Gateshead that works across the region to improve the lives of young people.

Individuals, projects and youth services based in the North East who work with young people between the ages of 11-25 can enter for one of the 10 awards, which includes: Youth Worker of the Year, Youth Work Manager of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Youth Participation Initiative, Partnership Working Award, Youth Work Team of the Year, Best Service to Young People, Outstanding Contribution in 2013, Most Innovative Practice and Lifetime Achievement.

The awards close for nominations on Friday 28 February, with the ceremony taking place at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Tuesday 8 April 2014. For more information about the Awards visit: www.rywu.org.uk/rywu-ne-awards.

As well as hosting the North East Youth Work Awards, the Regional Youth Work Unit – North East also runs a number of regional programmes, including Truth About Youth, somewhereto_, Reducing the Skills Gap, the Young People’s Charter for Arts and Culture, Change UR Mind and My Mind Matters.
