Elland firm who supplied London Olympics wins Huddersfield Town FC business award

Elland-based control systems specialist Control House has won a ‘Shooting Star’ business award, created by Huddersfield Town in tandem with club partner Total Dilapidations Services (TDS).

Each month Huddersfield Town’s commercial director Sean Jarvis, alongside TDS’ managing director Chris Lee and Huddersfield Town manager Mark Robins, select a business that is making a difference in the area to receive the accolade.

As winners of the December 2013 award, Huddersfield Town’s commercial director Sean Jarvis was joined by manager Mark Robins and Chris Lee from TDS at Control House in Elland to present the award to Directors Paul and Claire Summerskill.

As well as the ‘Shooting Star’ award, Paul and Claire will also receive tickets for the prestigious Spring Partners Suite for an upcoming Town game.

The award comes on the back of a great month for Control House, which was recently awarded investment from Finance Yorkshire.

Control House, which is celebrating its 10th year, beat stiff competition from other shortlisted companies such as Harrison Spinks, Camira Fabrics, Land Engineering Services, Freedom Group, Monarch Airlines, Brighter Connections, Towndoor Properties, Wellhouse Leisure, Web-Translations and FMG, to become the latest winner of the Shooting Star award.

Mark Robins also presented one of Control House’s employees, a Town fan named Ayrton Brown, with two tickets to last Saturday’s home game versus Wigan Athletic as a reward for his hard work.

Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented: “The ‘Shooting Star’ award has been setup to recognise excellence in business throughout our area and Control House has enjoyed a fantastic end to 2013, gaining significant investment from Finance Yorkshire.

“That investment came about thanks to result of their hard work and will be great for job creation and new business opportunities for the company.

“We realise that the football club has a big profile in our area and if we can use that to highlight Control House’s achievement, we’re more than happy to do so.”

Christopher Lee, managing director of TDS commented: “Once again, December’s winner has epitomised the ‘Shooting Stars’ award. Control House’s growth in a difficult market from a cellar in Halifax to supply control gear for Airbus and the London Olympics is an amazing story and their commitment to both clients and members of staff make them truly just recipients of the award.

“Control House have generated an envious team spirit which is a clear part of their success and we wish them all the best for the future.”
