Vista Retail Support rises to the Tenovus Three Peaks Challenge
Independent IT services company Vista Retail Support is to sponsor the Tenovus Three Peaks Challenge, in which teams will attempt to climb the three highest peaks in the UK – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – over a 24-hour period.
Vista has chosen leading national cancer charity Tenovus as its adopted charity for a second successive year and the challenge is a centrepiece of its programme of support over the next 12 months.
“We are delighted to be working again with Tenovus,” says Vista sales and marketing director Richard Cottrell, “The annual Tenovus Three Peaks Challenge offers a great way to raise a lot of money for this outstanding cause and provides a genuine test for all those taking part. And it is especially appropriate that we team up with a charity which, like us, is a Cardiff-based organisation addressing a UK-wide problem.
“It also provides a unique opportunity for us to engage both with staff within our business and our suppliers. We have already had a tremendous response, with two Vista teams taking up the challenge - and one of our guys has already lost four stone in weight as part of his training programme!”
The overall target for the Three Peaks Challenge is to raise £50,000. The money will go to supporting the Mobile Cancer Support Units that deliver chemotherapy and lymphoedema treatment to cancer patients closer to their homes, saving them often costly and stressful journeys to and from hospital. Tenovus is also working with men’s health charity Movember to create the first ‘Man Van’, which will travel across Wales to support men affected by prostate and testicular cancer.
Additionally, Vista will support other Tenovus events throughout the year, including the annual Golf Day and the Great Gatsby Ball.
“Tenovus has an extraordinary history of pioneering the development of cancer treatment and support services stretching back more than 70 years,” confirms Tenovus managing director Claudia McVie. “We are delighted that Vista continues to play a vital part in helping us bring cancer care to the heart of local communities.”
The Tenovus Three Peaks Challenge runs from 11-13 July 2014. If you want to get involved, contact bethan.palfrey@tenovus.org.uk
