West Yorkshire fashion expert has style and substance as business gains major recognition
A successful Yorkshire businesswoman, with many years experience in the fashion industry, has been short-listed for a prestigious award and also invited to speak at a high profile fashion event in London.
Stephanie Roper runs The Wardrobe Angel, in Halifax, and works all over the UK as a wardrobe and business stylist, image consultant and personal shopper offering services such as re-styling and streamlining wardrobes, creating capsule wardrobes and earning money from unwanted clothes.
Following a decade of working in the fashion industry as a visual merchandising manager for High Street brands such as New Look, H & M and Marks and Spencer, Stephanie decided to set up The Wardrobe Angel after a discovering a gap in the market for her full-service style and image consultations.
And, despite only recently celebrating her third year in business, Stephanie has now been named as a finalist in the Network She Foundation International Women’s Day Awards, which recognise the outstanding achievements of women in business all over the UK, for ‘Networking Woman of the Year’.
In addition, Stephanie has been invited to speak at a special fashion event at The Ivy in London hosted by Maggie Semple OBE. Maggie runs a highly-regarded fashion publishing house and holds ‘Semple Secrets’ events at locations around London sharing advice on various aspects of the fashion industry with well known industry commentators.
Speaking about her successful start to 2014, Stephanie Roper said: “It’s quite overwhelming to have been short-listed for such a major award which has had hundreds of entries from some amazing businesswomen. And I was delighted to have been invited to speak at Maggie Semple’s event as she really does only work with big names in the industry.
“Fashion and business have always been my passions and to be able to successfully combine them is incredibly exciting for me. It was all down to finding this niche in the marketplace for someone who could offer a full fashion service- re-styling, re-selling, up-cycling and image consulting. And that’s exactly what I am building my business around which is proving really successful. 2014 certainly looks very promising.”
As well as her recent successes, The Wardrobe Angel has also been part of an ITV programme about fashion and landfill sites and Stephanie has advised a number of High Street names on styling and customer service as well as organising the North’s biggest ‘Swishing’ events in Leeds which sees hundreds of people gather at high profile locations to swap clothes.
