UKTI urges Yorkshire businesses to sign up for Milan Expo 2015

UKTI is urging regional creatives to sign up for the UK pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015.

Multi-disciplined teams of digital content developers, builders, designers, and sponsors have until 2pm on Wednesday February 19 to register for a competition to create the most original, inspiring and memorable visitor experience possible.

The successful party will need to represent the Expo theme of ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ on a pavilion showcasing the best of UK research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The focus of the UK entry will be ‘Grown in Britain: Shared Globally’, with the aim of promoting trade and inward investment by influencing global perceptions of the UK.

Trade Minister Lord Livingston explained: “Through the UK Pavilion we will reach millions of people around the globe and build on the positive perception established by the UK Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“As one of the most creative countries in the world we are looking for memorable designs that will help us stand head and shoulders above our international competitors.”

Mark Robson, Regional Director for UK Trade & Investment, added: “This is a unique opportunity for creative agencies and minds across Yorkshire and the Humber to make their mark on the global stage and literally fly the flag for the nation.

“I know they have what it takes to excel and do the UK proud, and I strongly urge all involved in this sector to consider getting involved.”

Expo 2015 will raise awareness of how food production and consumption impacts on lives around the world, including how food choices contribute to individual health and well-being, and how it can have significant consequences for food supply in the developing world. Sustainability is a key component of the design brief.

142 countries across the world are expected to participate in the Expo. For further information about how to get involved visit: www.ukpavilion2015.ukti.gov.uk
