New chairman for NOF Energy

NOF Energy, the business development organisation for oil & gas, nuclear and offshore renewables sectors, has announced Paul Charlton as its new Chairman.

Paul, who is chief executive Officer of PDL Solutions (Europe) Ltd, succeeds the current chairman, Graham Payne, who has held the position since 2012.

In addition to Paul becoming chairman, NOF Energy has also welcomed new board members. Joining the board are Jamie Brown, managing director of Francis Brown Ltd; Bruce Heppenstall, general manager of GE & Oil Wellstream; Alex Heywood, managing director of Phusion and Craig Melville, deputy chief executive of the OGN Group.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the chemical and energy industries, Paul is one of the energy sector supply chain’s most respected figures. After spending his formative years in the chemical sector working in the UK and The Netherlands, he founded PDL Solutions in 2000.

With established companies in Europe and the USA, Paul has grown PDL Solutions into being one of the most trusted and respected independent engineering consultancies operating within the oil & gas, nuclear and offshore renewables sectors.

As well as being chief executive of PDL Solutions, Paul is a non-executive board member of Decom North Sea and he sits on the Subsea North East executive committee where he is chair of the Research and Technology Steering Group.

Prior to becoming Chairman, Paul has been a non-executive director of NOF Energy since 2010.

Paul Charlton said: “I am very proud to become Chairman of NOF Energy. I have been involved with the organisation for many years and I can testify to the benefits of membership for companies looking to develop their presence in the key energy sectors. I am looking forward to helping drive NOF Energy’s future strategy, which will have the ambitions of the members at its heart.

“I would like to thank Graham Payne for the excellent work he has done as Chairman, particularly overseeing NOF Energy through its landmark silver jubilee year in 2013.”

George Rafferty, chief executive of NOF Energy, said: “I am delighted that Paul is the new Chairman of NOF Energy. He has been a staunch supporter of NOF Energy for many years both as a member of the organisation and as part of our board.

“I am also very pleased to welcome new board members Craig, Bruce, Jamie and Alex, adding to the deep and broad industry knowledge held by our board, which informs and directs our strategies.”

“Paul’s Chairmanship begins at the start of another exciting period for NOF Energy. With more than 450 UK and international members, we have become one of the key supply chain organisations in the energy sector. Our market knowledge, extensive global network and member-focused services have become intrinsic parts of our members’ business development activities across the key energy sectors.”
