Newcastle’s World HQ nightclub reveals growth plans

Long standing Newcastle nightclub World Headquarters says it is looking to grow after securing a new 150 year lease on its Curtis Mayfield House premises.

The club, which has operated since 1993 and was originally located at Marlborough Crescent, employs 25 staff.

Recent funding from Barclays has secured a new lease on the Cariol Square premises, which the club has occupied since 2002, and now the club are looking to future growth plans.

Tom Caulker, managing director, DJ and driving force behind the success of the business said: “We’ve banked and worked with Barclays since 2002 and they have supported us both with the original move, the subsequent growth of the business and now the Long Lease purchase.

“We operate as a cosmopolitan and credible alternative to the city’s mainstream club scene and securing a new extended lease, means we can plan for the future with confidence and cement our existing reputation as a niche player, attracting a strong, loyal, local following, as well as the student market.

“All we’ve ever wanted is to offer a different take on how a Nightclub can be run and what it can represent - our new 150 year lease now secures that!”

Daryl Peart, relationship manager at Barclays, added: “It’s great to support a company investing for the future and we are delighted in helping to secure one of the most iconic nightclub venues in the North East.

“World HQ has been at the forefront of the leisure scene for over 21 years and continues to refresh and evolve for the next generation of party goers.

“This is a great example of a well-run local business with a forward thinking and ambitious management team and the future looks bright as it moves into the next phase of growth.”
