TSG secure five year deal with The Labour Party

Newcastle-based IT services firm, TSG, has secured a five year contract to provide a new telecoms system for The Labour Party, ahead of next year’s General Election.

TSG will install the new system across all the party’s offices from Westminster to Scotland to deal with anticipated traffic increases in the run up to the election.

Tammi Woodward, IT manager for The Labour Party, said: “The new solution improves our current setup dramatically as we move to a VOIP system across all our UK sites.

“This will drastically improve internal communications, increasing functionality at the same time, ultimately, as reducing costs.”

She added that the new system would allow greater control over the management of the party’s telephone system while new features offer close analysis of calls and agents’ performance.

“This will enhance the productivity of calls with our electorate which should reflect positively on membership and voter engagement.”

Graham Stafford, Labour’s head of procurement, explained: “Our workforce expands and contracts rapidly depending on where we are in the electoral cycle.

“We currently have 28 operatives using the phone systems and this can to increase to 80 when we get close to the 2015 General Election, so we can’t afford any reduction in call quality.

“TSG were very thorough throughout the tender process. We had a lot of questions about the functionality of the system and TSG always managed to come back with the solutions that matched all of our requirements.”

Mark Joynson, TSG’s North East managing director, said the company was delighted to secure another high profile contract.

He added: “The news of this great deal forms a sold platform for TSG to continue to strengthen through the year. To be recognised as the Labour Party’s telecoms provider is a huge accolade considering the critical importance of speaking to the electorate prior to the General Election.”
