Vertu to open Silverlink Infiniti centre creating 25 jobs
North East car dealers Vertu Motors PLC will opened a North East dealership for Nissan’s luxury Infiniti range, creating 25 jobs in the process.
The centre at Silverlink Retail Park, on the former Honda dealership site, will cover Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Teesside.
Manufacturing of the Infiniti is set to move to Nissan’s Sunderland plant next year as the brand expands into Europe.
Infiniti regional director Steve Oliver said: “This agreement represents yet another new Infiniti centre that will be opening, with many more to follow across the UK over the next few years.
“A centre operating in this important area will help generate awareness of the brand and build on our ever-growing customer base.”
Robert Forrester, CEO of Gateshead-based Vertu Motors PLC, said: “We are extremely excited to be the company which is bringing Infiniti to this region. It will be a growing brand in the UK that will introduce a wealth of cutting-edge products over the next few years.
“Next year, the Infiniti Q30 will be manufactured just down the road in Sunderland, meaning we will have another car brand both produced and sold in the region, which is fantastic news for the North East.
“Vertu has been going from strength to strength since its formation in 2006. In the past year, we have created 103 jobs in the North East alone and we are now the sixth largest motor retailer in the UK, with Infiniti set to bring us to 107 dealerships, representing 20 brands.”
