209 bed student accommodation plans for Newcastle city centre
Plans have been submitted to Newcastle City Council for a 209 bed student accommodation scheme near the site of the forthcoming Stephenson Quarter development.
Developers Buccleuch Estates and Gilltown Ltd hope to build a seven-storey development with 105 studio flats at Clavering Place, behind the city’s Central Station.
The development will target postgraduates and undergraduates in their third and fourth years at University, a document published by student property management firm Universal Student Living suggests.
Flats will feature en-suite bathrooms and study space will be provided in the building.
An initial plans suggests no parking will be available for residents and students will be discouraged from bringing cars to the city.
A decision from the Council’s Planning Committee will be made by May 8.
