NorthEastBiz targets a charitable donation of £2,000 for 2014
~~In 2013 the not-for-profit Northumberland networking organisation NorthEastBiz made its first annual charity donation, £640 to St Oswald’s Hospice. The NorthEastBiz team hope that it is the start of something new, networking organisations that commit to a different charity each year and raise money for that charity at every event. Come to Willow Wednesday Networking 26th Feb. next week details here: http://ow.ly/tNKoP Currently the NorthEastBiz fundraising is achieved through a Christmas fundraising event at the end of each year plus the cash surplus from the year. The cash surplus is created by the small difference between price charged at the door of each event and what is paid to the venue. Currently this is £2 per person at the monthly NorthEastBiz Breakfast event and £1 at the monthly Willow Wednesday event, the Morpeth Curry Club does not yet produce a surplus. This means that NorthEastBiz currently generates an average surplus of £65 per month. From this is taken very small administration overheads but that is all as the team put their time in for free and everyone pays to attend. The NorthEastBiz team are also now offering banner space for companies attending Willow Wednesday (Next one Wednesday the 26th next week). Each company that displays a pop-up banner at the networking event is charged £10 which goes also to the selected charity. The £2,000+ target is only possible due to this year’s match funding support from Barclays Business. Because of this the NorthEastBiz team has decided to ask the Barclays Business team to choose the charity for 2014. The charity for this year will be announced at the NorthEastBiz monthly flagship networking event Willow Wednesday at the Willow Farm Restaurant between 8 and 10am on Wednesday 26th of February. No need to book, £5 on the door gives you as much made to order tea or coffee as you like plus a muffin! With a consistently high turnout there are loads of contacts to be made.
