Senior economics journalist leads North East budget day event

The economics editor at The Sunday Times will give his take on George Osborne’s budget delivery next month, to an audience of North East business leaders.

David Smith will lead the Budget Live! event hosted by Tees Valley Unlimited, where the Chancellor’s fiscal policy will be broadcast live and followed by a Question Time-style debate.

Stephen Catchpole, TVU managing director, said: “With recent indicators pointing to an upturn in the UK’s economic fortunes and a General Election next year, all eyes will be on this year’s Budget.

“As a result private, public and voluntary sectors leaders will be more keen than ever to see how George Osborne is planning to keep the momentum going.

“Following the broadcast, we will discuss what we believe to be the implications of the Chancellor’s statement for the Tees Valley and beyond.”

The event is supported by regional law firm Latimer Hinks Solicitors and partner Anne Elliott will sit on the panel, also featuring Mr Catchpole and IoD North East chairman Alastair Thomson.

Following the debate, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Tees Valley Business Growth Hub and meet with representatives targeted with helping people grow theirbusinesses.

The networking session will include UKTI, Growth Accelerator, Teesside University and the Manufacturing Advisory Service.
