Ball shape not important to Stafford Audi
A leading Stafford business has proved that it doesn’t matter what sport you play when it comes to local sponsorship, by backing the local football and rugby clubs.
Stafford Audi has thrown its weight behind both Stafford Rangers FC and Stafford RUFC, by sponsoring the home Man of the Match award at the football club, and as a leading sponsor for the rugby club’s 1st XV on their match shirts and after-match dress shirts and blazers as well as pitch boards backing the team’s technical area.
Commercial manager at Stafford Rangers FC, Stuart Maun, said: “It is fantastic news that Stafford Audi wish to support their local football team.
“Most of our visitors probably pass the fantastic new Audi showroom as they come off the motorway so it’s great to consolidate their presence at Marston Road with signage, match day car placements, and of course the man of the match sponsorship.”
While Guy Foster, bar chairman and senior committee member at Stafford Rugby Club said: “We are an amateur club so support and sponsorship from local business is vital.
“With the Rugby world cup very much in focus, Stafford Audi’s support is fundamental to the success of our first team and the club’s goal of making rugby accessible to all in the local community.
“We are delighted to continue the partnership between Stafford Audi and the club and believe the aspirational brand fits well with the ethos of the first team.”
Stafford Audi, part of the family run Swansway group, is located in a £2.5m centre on the Prime Point 14 development just off junction 14 of the M6. But despite being a state of the art dealership on the outskirts of town, the roots of the business are very much in the community.
Head of Business at Stafford Audi, Phil Drury, said: “Stafford Audi is just as much a part of the town’s community as its rugby and football teams and we wanted to prove that by giving something back to local sport.
“The staff here at Audi are made up of both footy and rugby fans, it’s a fairly even split. When it came down to deciding which sport to support we simply couldn’t choose between these two great clubs – so decided to support them both.
“We did wonder if it might be fun to pitch the staff against each other in a charity match, using a round ball in the first half with football rules and an oval ball in the second with rugby rules and see which of the sports came out on top? Watch this space!”
