Cheshire fuel supplier looking to oil wheels to progress

Cheshire-based national fuel and lubricants supplier, Certas Energy, is pushing on with plans to enhance its status as an industry leader.

With a network of more than 150 depots, nearly 1,000 tankers and 2,500 employees, Certas Energy is the largest independent distributor of fuels and lubricants in the UK. It currently employs 2,500 people nationwide, with a nationwide network of 150 branded depots and nearly 1,000 tankers.

Certas supplies fuel to approximately 1,600 retail forecourts, including its own Gulf and Pace brands and other independent retailers.

As it seeks to secure its position by improving links with key players within and around the industry, the firm has appointed Brian Worrall as director of Corporate Affairs.

A former independent chairman of the Downstream Oil Distribution Forum, Mr Worrall brings a detailed understanding of issues currently affecting the fuel industry.

He played a key role in the development of the Petroleum Driver Passport, the first industry-led driver training initiative, and has also held positions at Chevron and Valero, building up an extensive knowledge of the commercial, road, aviation and retail forecourt sectors.

He is joining the company four months after its rebrand from GB Oils, and will support the team by building and maintaining external relations, as well as developing the brand’s corporate responsibility strategy.
