Insurance careers celebrated in Wigan during National Apprenticeship Week 2014

A commercial insurance brokers in Wigan is at the centre of March’s National Apprenticeship Week 2014 celebrations, after generating a wide range of training and employment opportunities for local people.

Following a very successful first year in business, Guardian I.B. Limited has created opportunities including a brand new apprenticeship as well as full time roles for 12 members of staff.

Now in its seventh year, the National Apprenticeship Weekinitiative, which runs between 3 March and 7 March, is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), and is an opportunity for employers, training providers, apprentices and partners to showcase Apprenticeships.

As part of its commitment to recruiting, developing and nurturing local home-grown talent, Guardian I.B. Limited welcomed 18-year-old Josh Gannon from Pemberton to the business last September.

During his first six months, Josh has already taken on a variety of roles to get a feel for all aspects of the business and experience what each different department does – from working in the claims division to sorting the company IT issues.

Commenting on his apprenticeship at Guardian I.B. Limited, Josh said: “I am thoroughly enjoying it as I’m the sort of person that likes a challenge and I love to be kept busy.

“I decided to do an apprenticeship so that I have a trade for life. It gives me the opportunity to earn money while I’m learning and to create a better future for myself.

“It’s a great office to work in and everyone is really friendly. I have to say that I enjoy going to work every single day!”

Specialists in Commercial Insurance, Guardian I.B. Limited, has built its reputation on a combination of sound industry knowledge and good service and the Wigan-based business is going from strength to strength, now looking after more than £7million-worth of premiums.
