Google experts land in Newcastle to offer businesses digital advice
Employees from Google will be in Newcastle on Friday (March 7) to offer regional businesses advice on using digital tools.
As part of the Go Digital Newcastle project, the Google Juice Bar will set up shop at Newcastle Civic Centre to advise on everryhing from creating a first website through to improving an existing website and online marketing.
Dan Cobley, managing director, Google UK, said: “A recent Boston Consulting Group report found that small businesses actively using the Internet can grow eight times faster than those companies with no web presence.
“Our goal is to get businesses of all sizes to understand the importance of the Internet and how easy it is to get online and contribute to the overall growth of their enterprise and the local economy.
“We hope that local businesses in and around Newcastle will take advantage of these free digital sessions.”
Celebrating female success in the digital sphere, Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah and YouTube businesswoman Lauren Luke will share their experiences and knowledge in digital entrepreneurism.
Given that female entrepreneurs are under-represented in the digital field, women are particularly encouraged to take advantage of the free expertise and workshops on offer - though all business owners are invited to sign up and take advantage of the workshop and benefit from making the most of the Internet for their business.
Chi Onwurah, MP for Newcastle Central said: “In today’s economy a successful digital presence is absolutely vital for small businesses and Newcastle must provide a platform for local business success online.
“Go Digital Newcastle is making that happen. It’s particularly important of International Women’s Day on March 8 to remember that by equalising men’s and women’s economic participation we could add 10pc to the economy by 2030.
“Digital should be an essential part of that - and women, and as many businesses as possible, should take advantage of the expertise on offer from Google.”
Google Juice Bar is taking place at Newcastle Civic Centre on Friday, March 7, from 11.30am to 2.30pm. To book a place go to www.godigitalnewcastle.co.uk/googlejuicebar.
