Irish football star and Ipswich Town collaborate on first West Yorkshire leisure facility

The A1 Football Factory, a new business venture co-owned by Ipswich Town and Republic of Ireland’s Paul Green, has completed a new property deal at A1 Business Park in Knottingley, West Yorkshire.

The newly formed company has secured a self-contained facility of 52,657 sq ft on a five year lease from landlord Aviva Investors in a deal brokered by the Leeds office of JLL.

A1 Football Factory is a new leisure facility which will host four state of the art indoor football pitches as well as a function room that can be hired out. It is set to open this weekend on March 8 2014.

Lauren O’Toole, surveyor at property agents JLL, said: “In recent years indoor football centres have become major leisure activity venues and it’s great to welcome a new entrant to the market with this latest deal.

“The modern unit, with 45 car parking spaces, will make an excellent multi-sporting facility and will bring a new dimension to the business park.”

Simon Fletcher, Director at A1 Football Factory, added: “The three of us involved in this venture have been brought up playing sport in the local area and understand the great need for such a facility. We aim to provide a first class facility not only in football but various other sporting sectors.

“The A1 Football Factory, which is in a prime location for nearby residents and has easy access from both the M62 and A1, will be available for hire for both social and league play as well as providing coaching opportunities right from grass roots level through to elite players.

“The area needs a facility which gives more opportunities for participation which can only lead to a greater chance of youngsters gaining opportunities to achieve excellence in their chosen sport.”

GVA acted as joint agents on the deal.
