Greater Manchester business park initiates consultation on green travel
Cheadle Royal Management Company has launched a consultation to explore sustainable travel options for South Manchester commuters.
The company proposes to implement a comprehensive travel plan for the business park to encourage occupiers to adopt and utilise a wider range of car-free transportation options.
In addition, it is working closely with Stockport Council to identify ways to help reduce traffic congestion in and around the park.
David Burkinshaw, development director at Muse Developments, which is part of Cheadle Royal Management Company, commented: “Located in the heart of South Manchester, Cheadle Royal Business Park is a hub for innovative companies looking to attract and retain top talent from across the region.
“With convenient access to both the city centre and Manchester airport, we’re committed to identifying sustainable travel alternatives that benefit employees and support regional business growth.”
To further support its green travel plan, Cheadle Royal recently surveyed over 300 business park tenants about their travel habits, awareness of regional transportation options and preferred commuting methods.
Robert Lawton, senior surveyor at CBRE – the managing agent at Cheadle Royal Business Park – added: “We want to work with regional employers and the local authority to capitalise on existing transportation links in the area and make them more accessible to Cheadle Royal Business Park tenants.
“Ultimately, we want to encourage South Manchester commuters to explore alternative travel options – such as commuting by train or bus – and support individuals who cycle or engage in car-sharing.”
