Visit County Durham buys into national tourist board campaign
The tourism marketing body Visit County Durham (VCD) has joined forces with VisitEngland to promote Durham’s countryside to English holidaymakers.
VCD has bought into the national tourist board’s English Countryside campaign with the aim of boosting rural tourism in the county and stimulating economic growth.
The campaign aims to highlight how easily accessible the countryside is from urban areas and showcase the huge range of activities on offer in the area.
The latest multi-channel marketing activity incorporates national print coverage in a special 24-page supplement in TimeOut magazine to be published on March 25 as well as the southern edition of the Metro newspaper.
A programme of digital and social media activity on Facebook and Twitter and at visitengland.com/morecountryside, will also feature.
Melanie Sensicle, chief executive of Visit County Durham, said: “The countryside in Durham is stunning and I am delighted that we have come together with VisitEngland to promote it.
“The campaign will highlight what the Durham countryside has to offer visitors whether that is peace and tranquillity or the chance to get outdoors and active, while local businesses will benefit, helping to boost the rural economy.”
