Widespace Launches Industry First Solution to Sync Mobile and TV Commericals
Widespace, the premium mobile advertising company, has launched AdSync, a revolutionary advertising solution designed to increase brand awareness by synchronising mobile advertisements and TV commercials. AdSync enables advertisers connected to Widespace to provide customers with advertisements on mobile sites and within mobile applications at the same time they show on television screens.
The solution was tested in a pilot with several major European advertisers which demonstrated that a synchronised mobile and TV campaign yields higher value when it comes to awareness and brand preference. It also highlighted a much higher likelihood of a customer purchase than if corresponding campaigns that are shown separately, with a study by Inzio demonstrating that synchronised campaigns could increase purchasing intention by as much as 39%.
A study conducted last year by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), suggested that the number of people in the UK using mobile phones to access the internet has doubled in the last three years alone. Meanwhile, research specialists Nielsen have claimed that three quarters of all TV viewers use mobile phones, computers, or tablets while watching TV.
“There’s no doubt that the explosion in the number of smartphones and tablet devices in recent years has changed the way all of use consume and interact with media,” said Joy Dean, Head of Partnerships at Widespace.
“Today’s audiences enhance their TV program and TV commercial experiences by updating themselves, seeking additional information, and directly discussing content with others during transmission. What’s clear is that TV and mobile devices increasingly exist in a symbiosis, and we believe that AdSync is the perfect tool to help UK advertisers benefit from this phenomenon and to further drive the adoption of mobile advertising in this country.”
The AdSync technology is being launched in Sweden and will be available in the UK and other territories later this year.
