Northumberland brewery strikes gold
A North East craft brewery has struck gold at a prestigious national awards ceremony.
Anarchy Brewery’s ‘Sublime Chaos’ has won the National Gold Award in the Premium Strong Beer category at the Society of Independent Brewers Awards held in Sheffield.
The 7.0% ABV breakfast stout, brewed at Anarchy’s site in Stannington, Northumberland, will now go forward to the Great British Beer Competition to be held in London in August.
Anarchy Brewery was formed in 2012 by husband and wife team Simon and Dawn Miles. Commenting on the award, Simon said: “We’re thrilled to have one of our beers gain this national recognition and I’m especially pleased our team’s hard work has paid off.
“We think Sublime Chaos is a great beer but when independent judges agree and when it beats off strong competition from across the UK, you know you’re doing something right.”
Sublime Chaos is one of 13 beers currently being brewed by Anarchy. The beer is described as: “A dark, voluptuous stout infused with Ethiopian Guji natural coffee beans, balanced delicately with New Zealand hops.”
The coffee beans are supplied by Hasbean Ltd whose managing director Stephen Leighton said: “We are very proud to be working with Anarchy Brewery and we congratulate them on this award.”
