Three is a magic number for Yorkshire designer

Young Yorkshire designer Kyle Wilkinson is taking the international design world by storm.

Kyle, 26, has notched up three prestigious commissions in the past six months which take him and his creative work to a global audience.

Kyle has twice been handpicked to provide artwork for the New York-based Art Directors Club.

The Art Directors Club (ADC) is a 1,500 strong group consisting of art directors, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and other creative professionals.

Kyle was first chosen to design invitations for ADC dinners in cities around the world which were sent to hundreds of the top names in global organisations such as Saatchi and Saatchi, Sony Music and Sesame Street Studios. Dinners took place in New York, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Chicago, Barcelona, Paris, London and San Paolo.

He then became one of only 12 young designers worldwide commissioned to produce designs for an event to inspire young creative talent.

The Portfolio Night event, for which Kyle designed promotional artwork, offers the opportunity for young creatives to have their work critiqued by some of the finest talents in the industry.

Kyle created his own interpretation of the phrase “Blood, Sweat and Tears” to represent the countless hours, sleepless nights, killed ideas and ambitious drive that go into crafting the perfect portfolio.

Barnsley-based Kyle, creative director at agency DMSQD, designed artwork which focuses on the ideas that are flowing around your brain.

Fresh on the back of his international successes, Kyle has been invited to speak at the Photoshop Live conference held in Brighton. The conference promises to be an exciting new event for designers, artists and photographers covering all things Photoshop.

In his talk, Kyle will delve into the world of illustrated type and how you can bring words to life with the use of Photoshop. He’ll be sharing knowledge on techniques to broaden your skill sets as well workflow tips.

In early November Kyle was announced as a finalist at the Northern Design Awards 2013.

Nominated for best furniture design, The Phaeton Chair faced stiff opposition from designers at the annual event which aim to recognise and reward those who go the extra mile within the northern design scene.

Kyle said: “It’s been a fantastic few months and these great opportunities keep cropping up.

“It’s extremely prestigious to have been chosen twice by the Art Directors Club out of all the other creatives worldwide. It’s a huge achievement to have such a high profile.”
